Calming Breathwork
Calming breathwork is not just about learning how to calm ourselves in the moment it is about changing our physiology in a way that there are less moments that need calming.
Scientific studies demonstrate the power of the mind-body connection in our quest for health and wellness. The studies also show optimal health cannot be experienced unless the wellness of the mind, body, spirit, and emotions are in balance. Awareness and care must be taken in balancing these four parts simultaneously, or over time illness will present in the area that is not being nurtured.
Our holistic application of the breath is the most efficient method to calm our nervous system to balance and strengthen the health of the mind, body, spirit, and emotions.
The life changing benefits are instrumental in the development of personal resilience. The carry over effect of continued practice brings a calmer approach to our days reducing and often eliminating the byproduct of stress: overwhelm and emotional reactivity.
Additional benefits demonstrate physiological changes creating new neural pathways in the brain and the repair of our cells. These physiological changes are instrumental in nurturing all aspects of our being, fueling our own innate abilities to balance and heal.
Calming breathwork can change your breathing “set point” and simply become the way you naturally breathe each and every day, every moment.
How to apply the breath: Find opportunities throughout each day to intentionally breathe slowly and deeply into the belly all in and out the nose. Breathe to the count of 4 seconds in and 4 out. Do not force, strain or hold the breath. Each breath should be slow and deep, smooth and flowing with no pauses.
When we let go of the habits of shallow chest and mouth breathing we eliminate the limitations these habits have created in the oxygenation process. Create a new habit of slowing and deepening each and every breath to support the body’s most efficient means of distributing oxygen deeply to each cell and organ. Adopting this new habit will fuel and strengthen our cells and organs ability to function at optimal levels, as a result, we can function at optimal levels.
With continued practice calming breathwork will shift your breathing “set point” uncovering the real, hard to believe, magic of our breath. This is where we not only experience improvements in our health but where deep personal growth is the undeniable gift revealed.
